El Paso to Fort Hancock

Here I am tucked into my little tent after a wonderful ride thru west Texas. It was very early in the am when we left El Paso, winding thru downtown with a bit of traffic and beautiful views overlooking the town and the sun coming up over the mountains. After riding the first 13 miles of our planned 58, George got a flat tire. Fortunately we were in the McDonalds parking lot and there were several people with us who each had a selection of tools and knowledge of how to change the tire and remove the thorn that caused the flat and then get the tire reinflated and back on the bike. Let me tell u I hope I never have a flat because I would be out of luck in a big way. If it had been me this am, I probably would have lain down in McDonalds and cried. No, seriously, I could have called Chandler and he would have come, but it is pretty amazing the technical knowledge and skill these riders have along with all their equipment, making the pretty self sufficient.
Tonight we are tenting it or staying inside a church . I am in the tent which gives me the great outdoors to empty my bladder vs crawling over bodies to use the one bathroom inside the church It is 77 degrees at 8 pm and no humidity. Tonight we had meatloaf at a local cafe. Tasted pretty good, but not hot enough for me, ate it all anyway. Took some pics of camp and me to share with all of u. Tomorrow we head to Vanhorn TX, 78 miles.

  2. Love the pics of you and your tent. Your headlamp should become a new fashion statement! Glad to hear that your nights are getting a little warmer. Your face looks really tan and healthy. I miss you a lot!!! It is cold here today. I am hoping that the warm weather returns soon.
